Update on the French Open

The US American Serena Williams has reached the third round of the French Open. Williams won over Mihaela Buzarnescu from Romania with 6:3, 5:7, 6:1. In the next match Williams will play against Danille Collins. Serena seeks her 24th Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, which would tie her with record-holder Margaret Court from Australia.

Alexander Zverev made it into the third round of the French Open. The German defeated Roman Safiullin from Russia with 7:6 (7:4), 6:3, 7:6 (7:1) on the windy Suzanne Lenglen Court. After his five-set win over Cologne’s Oscar Otte in the opening match, Zverev had to fight against Roman. Zverev was down 1:3 in the second set and then won five games in a row. In the third set, the German was down 1:4 and improved to a brilliant tiebreak. Zverev ended the match at the first opportunity with an unreturnable serve after 2:27 intense hours.

Last year’s semifinalist Stefanos Tsitsipas made it round three after winning over Pedro Martinez from Spain with 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. The Greek’s opponent in round three is the US American John Isner.
