With their 2-0 win over RCD Mallorca, Real Madrid again pushed past FC Barcelona to the top position in La Liga. Real played smart against well-playing but ultimately too harmless Majorcans. However, the game turned into a historic evening thanks to an RCD player. In the 83rd minute, a historic moment occurred at Mallorca: the 15-year-old Romero became the youngest La Liga player in history – thanks to a special permit.
Although Mallorca had long periods of ball possession, Madrid was much more dangerous: Vinicius Junior was too hesitant in a good position (17th), but two minutes later the Brazilian scored from an sharp angle with a chip under the crossbar (19th). This was preceded by a controversial midfield duel between Carvajal and Dani Rodriguez, but the goal withstood a VAR check.
After the change of sides, Real Madrid had more of the game at the beginning. Benzema failed from the edge of the penalty area to Manolo Reina (52nd). Shortly afterwards Madrid lead 2-0: Sergio Ramos converted a direct free-kick into the upper left-hand corner of the goal (56th). Then, Real switched back a gear, and Mallorca was not able to convert a couple of attempts into a goal.
Next Sunday, Madrid will be guesting at Espanyol Barcelona.
Our tip is a clear 3-0 win for Real. What do you think? Get into the action and make your prediction!
