Roger Federer took a break from tennis this year. He suffered from a knee issue and had to undergo two surgeries. With COVID 19 and the whole tennis world standing still and being uncertain, he preferred to take a rain check on the season of 2020 and instead to focus on his recovery.
According to a statement of the Swiss he wanted to return on the court in January 2021 at the Australian Open. However, this plan might not work out. In an interview with SRF, Roger explained that he is not fully recovered and back to his old strength. Therefore he does not want to rush anything now.
Roger said, “I would have hoped that I would already be at 100% back in October, but I am not yet. I wish I were already further along, but at the same time, I’m happy with what I have achieved so far. It’s going to be tight for the Australian Open.”
Fans of the most successful tennis player of the present hope to see him at the tennis courts in Austalia, but we’ll see if their wish becomes true.
