In the debate over the Premier League season, fellow coaches seem to be drawing the wrath of Jose Mourinho. Pep Guardiola is said to be one of the sceptics.
Despite the current corona crisis, star coach Jose Mourinho is desperate for a continuation of the Premier League – and apparently accepts no other opinion in the discussion.
As the Mirror reports, during a video conference, the Tottenham Hotspur coach poisoned the minds of coaches who expressed concerns: “If you don’t want to play, stay at home and watch the Bundesliga“.
According to the report, Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea FC), Nigel Pearson (Watford FC) and Graham Potter (Brighton & Hove Albion) are warning against a hasty return to the game.
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp, who is only two wins away from his first championship in 30 years with the Reds, is expected to argue for a continuation, provided a viable concept is in place. However, the concept would have to guarantee the safety of all concerned.
However, according to the Guardian and Telegraph, the report says many players have expressed concerns about their health. They said that this was not only about the league’s hygiene concept but also about the increased risk of injury after the long compulsory break.
Re-start of the Premier League postponed again as a consequence, the re-start scheduled for 12 June was postponed by at least another week to 19 June.
On Monday, the Premier League wants to convene another video meeting to postpone the planned season start officially.
From 1 June at the earliest, sporting events could be held in England for TV broadcasting behind closed doors, provided that strict security measures are observed, and the number of corona-infected people in England does not increase further.
