Novak Djokovic has tested positive for coronavirus. His wife Jelena was also positive for COVID-19. Djokovic shared this news in a statement. He also explained that he has not shown any symptoms so far and that he will now go into self-isolation for two weeks. Djokovic is apologetic and wrote: “I am extremely sorry for every single case. He hopes no complications will arise ‘and everyone will get well’. This is a new reality. We are still learning to cope with it and to live with it“.
The world number one has organised the Adria Tour. The tournament series had been criticised for lack of safety regulations. Spectators were standing close together without any face masks, players shook hand and partied together in night clubs.
Before Djokovic’s positive test, it became public that Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgaria), Borna Coric (Croatia) and Viktor Troicki (Serbia) have also been tested positive to COVID-19.
