Coronavirus implications on Tennis games
COVID-19 has a massive impact on all that we know. Given the course of the corona pandemic, tournament organisers can’t host the usual games.
Both, the ATP and WTA have decided to suspend the ATP and WTA Tours until July 13, 2020, including all of the ATP/WTA European grass-court tournaments at all levels of the professional game.
The entire German lawn tennis season and the planned German tournament summer are cancelled. As announced by the players’ organisations ATP and WTA, the tennis tour will be interrupted until at least July 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The German tournaments in Stuttgart, Halle, Berlin and Bad Homburg as well as other international events, including the Wimbledon tournament, will not take place.
Depending on the pandemic’s development, the Stuttgart and Berlin tournaments might be postponed to late summer 2020.
Both the ATP and WTA will keep a close eye on the further development of the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the current moment, tournaments scheduled after July 13, 2020, are still planned to be played following the published schedule.
