According to a Spanish media report, Borussia Dortmund is determined to poach young star Ansu Fati from FC Barcelona. The 17-year-old top talent is being traded as a possible replacement for winger Jadon Sancho, should he return to the Premier League this summer as planned. This was reported by the usually well-informed Barça house journal “Sport” on Thursday.
However, it is unlikely that FC Barcelona will let Fati go. A loan of several years seems more likely. Fati, who has his roots in Guinea-Bissau, became the Catalans’ youngest goalscorer in the Spanish league last year at the age of 16 years and 304 days. During the winter, Barça had significantly improved the contract with Fati, which runs until 2022, by raising the exit clause from 100 to 170 million euros.
