Borussia Dortmund remains on course for the Champions League

The winner of the 30th matchday par excellence is Borussia Dortmund. Even though the FC Bayern performed strongly and maintained their lead in the standings, BVB managed to gain ground against their rivals. While their competitors in the fight for the Champions League places, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig all lost points, the BVB was able to secure important 3 points with their 1-0 home win against Hertha BSC on Saturday. With four matchdays to go, Dortmund now has a proud seven-point lead over the fifth position. For the Borussians, this was the eleventh victory in the 13th round back match, although the success was a tough work victory.

“It wasn’t a good game from us”, admitted national team player Julian Brandt after the game, but Borussia still managed to hold on to the important second place and increase the gap to their rivals. So it was the duo of Sancho and Brandt who prepared for Emre Can to score the winning goal in the 57th minute. After only a few months, the national team player Emre Can is already an absolute star in Lucien Favre’s team and underlined his class in the game against Hertha. For Hertha, it was the first defeat under coach Bruno Labbadia.
